I readily admit that I don't have a lot of programming experience outside of HTML, CSS, and some PHP, but I am doing my best to learn Python this summer. Aside from YouTube videos and CodeAcademy, what other FREE sources of learning are there?

  • Think Python can alse a useful resource: www.greenteapress.com/thinkpython/thinkpython.html. It's designed for people with little prior coding experience, and is pretty good at defining terminology. I think the content is in a reasonable order as well.

  • The best way to learn is to do. I'd suggest jumping into Django, plus they have a great tutroial. Given your web background, it should make a lot of sences. docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.6/ Another fun place is pythontutor.com/ it has several tutorials but the best part is a visualization feature. Good luck!

  • I mean, there is free, and then there is "free." It all depends on what kind of person you are, but I got the Lynda.com Python 3 essentials course and it was amaaazing. :)
